TURKISH FOREIGN OFFICE SAYS ARMENIA’S REFUSAL TO GRANT VISAS TO TURKISH OBSERVERS TESTIFIES FUTILITY OF ARMENIA’S DEVELOPMENT

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / The statement by the
Foreign Ministry of Turkey says that Armenia’s refusal to grant visas
to the observers from Turkey represented in the OSCE mission testifies
the futility of the development of Armenia. The OSCE mission will
observe the parliamentary elections in Armenia on 12 May.

Eight observers from Turkey, who hold international observers’ status,
were expected to travel to Armenia on 6 May. However, several hours
before their departure the OSCE representatives stated that the
Armenian authorities had not granted them visas. The visit to Turkey
was therefore cancelled.

The Foreign Minister of Turkey stated that appointing observers for
the parliamentary elections in Armenia had been aimed at normalizing
bilateral relations in favor of democratic developments in the
country. "By this gesture, Armenia is demonstrating that it disregards
any action which may foster the channel of communication between the
two countries," the statement read.

The Ministry calls on those countries and international organizations
who are in favour of peace and close friendly relations in the
region to express their opinions and make a decision on Armenia’s
unjustified action.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
