ART IS ENDANGERED
[05:21 pm] 11 May, 2007
`I am discontent with the general atmosphere of
culture. Comedies have replaced the genre of
anecdotes, vulgarity and tactlessness have mingled
with freedom of speech,’ says director Vigen
Chaldranyan.
When crowds, not public, dictate the taste, market
relations become dominant. Vigen Chaldranyan compares
today’s culture with ooze, a chaos.
In his opinion, Armenians have always been loyal to
their spiritual values.
`There must be a clear cut between art and backstreet
jargon. We must never overstep the permissible limits,
especially on National TV Channel as the television
has a significant role in future generations’
upbringing.’
The future of the Armenian cinematography depends on
the country’s future.
