/PanARMENIAN.Net/ During the recent years Armenia has made the
international recognition of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in the
Ottoman Empire an irreversible process, Ruben Safrastyan, Director of
the Institute of Oriental Studies at the RA National Academy of
Sciences of Armenia, told a news conference in Yerevan.

Turkey is not twiddling its thumbs either. The existence of the
Turkish Republic based on non-recognition of the Armenian
Genocide. There is no a politician or party in Turkey who could
acknowledge the fact of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire,
Ruben Safrastyan said.

As to domestic crisis in Turkey, Mr Safrastyan thinks that the current
situation is a test for the country. `If the General Staff stops
interfering into the internal policy and allows normal election it
will be a step towards democracy. If not, Turkey will remain a state
fitting to Ataturk’s plans,’ he said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
