Ruling Republican Party leader in Armenia elections

YEREVAN, May 13 (Itar-Tass) — The ruling Republican Party is the
leader in the Armenian parliamentary elections, according to the
preliminary results of the vote in 178 out of the 1,923 polling
stations, Central Election Commission member Artak Kocharyan said on
Sunday.

According to the results, the party gained about 42 percent of the
votes. The second is the Prospering Armenia party. Its leader is
businessman and parliament member Gagik Tsarukyan. About 22 percent
voted for the party.

The Socialist Party, which is in the current ruling coalition, is the
third with 14 percent of the votes.

It is the preliminary results summed up after 54.200 votes were
counted,

A total of more than 1,3 million people cast their votes in the
elections.
