Heads of the international observation missions of the European
Parliament, OSCE, and OSCE/ODIHR declared that according to
preliminary assessments, the elections in Armenia were democratic and
corresponded to international standards.

It was noted that the voting was calm and received a positive
evaluation in the majority of the precincts observed. Due to the
efforts of the members of the Precinct Electoral Commission the
elections were held in compliance with RA Electoral Code.

The long-term observers noted that the campaign was held in a positive
atmosphere and dynamically. `All this is good for young Armenian
democracy. Joint efforts and will is needed from the political forces
to reinforce the results achieved,’ Head of the OSCE PA Mission Tone
Tinsgaart stated.

Some frauds revealed during the elections do not give ground for
criticism and cannot affect the final results.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
