SOME PARTIES DEFEATED AT PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS TO BE SELF-DISSOLUTED, PSYCHOLOGIST KARINE NALCHAJIAN FORESEES

YEREVAN, MAY 15, NOYAN TAPAN. A progress is noticed in the political
culture being formed in Armenia. Psychologist Karine Nalchajian
expressed this opinion at the May 15 press conference. If before,
during the pre-electoral period the society did not expect changes,
public moods are this time waiting as in K. Nalchajian’s words,
not an inspired electorate but one, thinking in a rather sober way,
with its notions about the value system and truth, participated in
the parliamentary elections.
In the psychologist’s words, during the electoral campaign,
the emotionality was more emphasized among the politicians than
among the society. According to K. Nalchajian’s estimation, the
electoral campaign was of "ambitious" character: "Party heads were
so self-confident that even sober opinions and researches were
unperceivable."
She expressed a confidence that some political forces will have inside
conflicts and clashes as a result of analysis of reasons of their
loss at the elections, in the consequence of what, they, probably,
will be self-dissoluted.
In K. Nalchajian’s words, even among the parties won at the elections,
moods differ: there are "absolute" and "relative" winners there. "There
are people among the winners who had more expectations and in that
sense consider themselves defeated at some extent," K. Nalchajian said.
In K. Nalchajian’s opinion, Bargavach Hayastan (Prosperous Armenia)
Chairman Gagik Tsarukian’s phenomenon was formed and strengthened for
years as in conditions of market relations, a rich man’s image makes
a part of the public value system. She at the same time mentioned
that parties, generally founded for participation in the elections,
are mainly formed of a mass of adaptable people. And similar people,
in her words, may become "party deserters" when meeting difficulties.
