AZERI SOLDIER GETS 11 YEARS IN PRISON FOR HIGH TREASON

15 May: The Military Court for Serious Crimes today issued a verdict
on Vusal Mahammad oglu Qaracayev, a soldier from a Defence Ministry
military unit who is charged with high treason.

Residing judge Camal Ramazanov ruled to sentence Qaracayev to 11
years in prison.

December 2006 and was released on 31 December 2006]

Qaracayev was found guilty of high treason (Article 274 of the
Azerbaijani Criminal Code), being absent from duty without permission
(Article 334.3) and violating sentry rules (Article 338.1).
