U.S. SUPPORTS STRUGGLE OF TURKEY AGAINST PKK

ANKARA, MAY 16, NOYAN TAPAN. Turkey centralized about 50 thousand
soldiers and military technics along the border of Iraq in the region
of Sirnak, Turkey. As the Turkish press states, in that region Turkish
military units implement military actions against the assults of
the Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) and attempt to prevent the latters’
attempts to violate the Turkish-Iraq border.

During the conference entitled "Struggle Against Terrorism Ideological
Assistance" organized in Ankara, Ross Wilson, the U.S. Ambassador
to Turkey mentioned the name of the ASALA (Armenian Secret Army for
the Liberation of Armenia) as well at the same time with the PKK,
in the row of terrorist organizations, emphasizing that numerous
people died as a result of actions implemented by those organizations.

In R. Wilson’s words, during the recent weeks, the Turk security
forces started an active struggle against the Kurdish Workers’ Party
what the U.S. assists. "We study all those ways in which it will be
possible to more assist the security forces in the struggle against
the Kurdish Workers’ Party," the U.S. Ambassador said.
