ULP DEFEATED IN ELECTIONS CONGRATULATES ITS PARTNERS CONTINUING PARLIAMENTARY ACTIVITY

YEREVAN, MAY 16, NOYAN TAPAN. Gurgen Arsenian, Chairman of the United
Labor Party (ULP), which did not get over 5% barrier in the May 12
parliamentary elections, at the May 16 special sitting of RA National
Assembly on behalf of the faction congratulated the politicians who
will continue their activity at the parliament of next convocation
wishing them "fruitful work for the sake of the Republic of Armenia."

He thanked his political allies and opponents, NA staff for four-year
cooperation, as well as the Armenian people for giving the party
a possibility to be represented at the parliament in the 2003
parliamentary elections.

G. Arsenian wished government success in the issue of implementation
of its programs, as well as wished the "government to be able to
contribute to strengthening of confidence between RA citizens and
the authorities with its activity."

To recap, members of Ardarutiun (Justice) faction, with the exception
of two deputies and National Unity with its complete staff, who were
not elected as a result of the last parliamentary elections, were
absent from the special sitting convened at the end of expiration of
powers of NA of third convocation.
