Yerevan, May 17. /Mediamax/. Member of the Council of the Republican
Party of Armenia (RPA), leader of the parliamentary faction of RPA
Galust Sahakian urged the opposition today to accept its failure.
Mediamax reports that, speaking at a briefing in Yerevan today, Galust
Sahakian condemned the "slanderous political course of the oppositional
parties". According to him, "practically, there are no concrete
signals on violations during the parliamentary election received".
Galust Sahakian reminded that he forecast the confident victory of
RPA during the elections and noted that "the people voted not only
for the Republican Party, but for the national security of Armenia".
According to Sahakian, "the victory for RPA was a means and not
an aim".
Member of the RPA Council voiced confidence that "the efforts of the
opposition to organize a revolution are completely senseless, and
no one needs those efforts". According to him, "if the people really
wanted a revolution, much more people would attend the oppositional
rally of May 13".
Galust Sahakian stressed that "a situation of political monopoly should
not appear in the country", clarifying that "this means cooperation
both with the people and the political forces".
"The most important is to prevent the cooperation from making one
party a vassal of the other", he concluded.
