YEREVAN, MAY 17, NOYAN TAPAN. "A grave crime has been committed once
again against the Armenian statehood – the collective will of our
people has been violated. Only enemies have treated our people this
way." Samvel Harutyunian, non-partisan candidate nominated by the
majoritarian electoral system in electoral district No 37, mayor of
the city of Goris in 1992-1994, made this comment on the parliamentary
elections during the May 17 meeting with reporters.
In his words, this crime has thousands of executors and two authors –
the Armenian president Robert Kocharian and the prime minister Serge
Sargsian.
S. Harutyunian said that he will not apply to law enforcement bodies
with the request to identify electoral violations. Instead, he proposes
forming an "army of devotees" and announcing that "the Armenian
liberation struggle under the name of "Liberation Movement" starts."
The former mayor of Goris said that he intends to nominate his
candidature for the 2008 presidential elections.
