YEREVAN, MAY 21, NOYAN TAPAN. At about 14:00, May 21, after the
visit and persuasion of RA Prime Minister Serge Sargsian world boxing
champion Israyel Hakobkokhian stopped the hunger strike he had went
on on May 16 near the building of Central Electoral Commission. The
former candidate for deputy’s mandate demanded to invalidate the
results of the May 12 elections at electoral district N 11 where he
was voted on by majoritarian system. He affirmed that the elections
were held with violations.
In I. Hakobkokhian’s words, the Prime Minister persuaded him to stop
the hunger strike, to go home and to recover and then to come and to
make claims.
In his interview to Noyan Tapan correspondent I. Hakobkokhian said
that he is not going to apply to the Constitutional Court with the
demand to invalidate the results of elections, as Heghine Bisharian
(Orinats Yerkir Party) nominated at the same electoral district will
do the same. To recap, Grigory Margarian nominated by civil initiative
was recognized the winner at that electoral district.
