Turan 27/05/2007 22:24

Azerbaijan has been negotiating with Turkey to build a railway branch
from the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars main.

The branch will run from the Turkish city of Igdyr on to the
Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR), Azerbaijani President Ilham
Aliyev said yesterday, during the opening of a monument to Azerbaijan
People’s Republic 1918-1920.

Aliyev said the project will establish a railway communication
between Baku and Nakhchivan and bring the republic out of a blockade,
which it has been in since 1988 due to the Armenian- Azerbaijani
conflict.

The packet of agreements related to Baku-Tbilisi-Kars construction
was signed on April 8, 2007 in Tbilisi. During the project it is
planned to build a new 105 km long railway (76 km within Turkey and
29 km within Georgia).-0-

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
