"I agree with the French co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group Bernard Fassier
that the military settlement of Karabakh conflict is inadmissible. The
sooner the conflict is resolved, the better it will be for Armenia
and Azerbaijan and for the region, on the whole," Foreign Minister of
Azerbaijan Elmar Mammedyarov told journalists in Baku. Azerbaijani
agency Turan reports that the minister reiterated that the parties
need to adopt the basic principles of settlement to sign the future
peace treaty on their basis. "These principles are left unchanged
i.e. Armenia must withdraw its troops and refugees must return to the
place of their residence," the minister said. "Regarding the remaining
issues, they are still uncoordinated. The sooner the leadership of
Armenia understands that the conflict must be settled within the
framework of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the sooner
the conflict will be resolved. Of course, this requires time," the
minister said. As regards the reasonable width of Lachin corridor,
it is not accidental that this term has originated. The corridor
lays across mountains. "Given the security of cargo and passenger
transportation, we have agreed with dislocation of peacemakers in the
zone," the minister said. Military experts must take into account
the possible fire points. "The most important is that there is no
repetition of military actions," E. Mammedyartov said. The terms of
dislocation of the peacemakers and their staff are unknown so far. The
minister mentioned that the peacemaking troops must not comprise
either representatives of the region or the OSCE MG co- chair-states.
