FOUR MORE SCHOOLS TO OFFER INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

YEREVAN, MAY 30, ARMENPRESS: Four more secondary schools in Yerevan
will be included in the list of schools providing what is called
‘inclusive education " and will receive extra government funding.

The inclusive education in these schools has been introduced by a
non-governmental organization, called Bridge of Hope and encompasses
69 children and 12 teachers.

Inclusive education is a developmental approach seeking to address
the learning needs of all children, youth and adults with a specific
focus on those who are vulnerable to marginalisation and exclusion.

The principle of inclusive education was adopted in 1994 and was
restated at the World Education Forum in 2000. The idea of inclusion
is further supported by the UN Standard Rules on the Equalization of
Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities proclaiming participation
and equality for Silva Achoyan, deputy chief of the education
department at Yerevan municipality, said so far 5 schools in Yerevan
offer inclusive education and receive extra funding.

They embrace 178 students and 25 teachers.
