Economic growth in Armenia will continue during the next 3-5 years at
the least, RA President Robert Kocharyan said at today’s session of the
Nuclear Energy Security Council. He said the economy of Armenia was
stably developing since the last session of the Council in October,
2005. He added that 12,5%-growth of economy was observed in the
republic over the past 6 years. The president also said that the rates
of GDP growth in 2007 "run" nearly with the same indicators. In his
speech, R. Kocharyan placed special emphasis on the reforms without
which the economy growth would be impossible. In particular, active
reformation of economy, the educational and social spheres is going on.

Moreover, the second stage of reforms in the court-legal system
has started.

The president recalled that Armenia has been included in the Policy of
"New Neighbourhood" of the European Union, the Actions Plan has been
adopted, aimed at reformation of the Armenian society. Big projects
started with Russia in energy, which have entered the implementation
stage. A three-lateral project in energy is carried out with Iran
and Georgia. Negotiations have started for implementation of other
energy projects. Moreover, fulfillment of projects with the USA have
begun within the frames of the "Millennium Challenges" Programme,
that will also positively affect the economic situation in Armenia,
RA President said.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
