"NATO has two strongest members, Turkey is one of them. Turkish
soldiers participate almost in all peacekeeping operations of NATO- in
Kosovo, Bosnia, Afghanistan and other regions. Turkey has historical
background in the Balkans so its army is in high favor with the
Balkans", Vahit Erdem, Turkish parliament NATO group’s chairman,
AKP member (Turkish Justice and Development Party) said.

He said Turkey’s taking control over peacekeeping forces of NATO in
Kosovo is natural and assured Turkish Army will successfully carry
out this mission.

Touching upon sending peacekeepers including Turkish soldiers to
Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict zone Vahit Erdem said NATO is not
planning such operation yet. "If NATO decides it, Turkey will join
this campaign as Turkey has close historical links with the Caucasus
too. So deploying Turkish soldiers to Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone
will be useful for everyone," he concluded.
