SERGE SARGSYAN COULD HAVE CORRECTED HIS MISTAKE OF MAY 12 IF HE HAD GONE ALL THE WAY ON THE TRACK OF SOLITUDE

By obtaining absolute majority in the parliamentary election Serge
Sargsyan apparently took the wrong track. He is now trying to share
the majority with as many forces as possible to ensure majority in
the presidential election.

The point is that it is practically impossible to win both the
presidential and parliamentary elections with the same method. With
a little more than 30 percent in the parliamentary election Serge
Sargsyan, in fact, holds absolute majority, but also thanks to the
constituencies. In the presidential election he will probably appear
tete-a-tete with another candidate if he pursues the wrong track
and does not go for a one-round election. It is possible however,
that he will do because apparently Serge Sargsyan’s goal is to be
better than Robert Kocharyan in everything. In this sense, he will
naturally wish to become president in the first round because Robert
Kocharyan won twice in run-off elections. However, it is also possible
that if you come in the first round you will leave in the first round
and perhaps the knowledge of this apocrypha prompted Robert Kocharyan
to never be tempted by momentous victory.

And perhaps Robert Kocharyan remains faithful to his inner voice. Over
his ten years of office he has never aspired to absolute majority,
perhaps because he knew the Chinese curse "let all your wishes
come true."

Therefore, perhaps, Robert Kocharyan easily allowed Serge Sargsyan to
take the absolute majority, in other words, to fulfill his wishes. Was
it destiny that Andranik Margaryan’s death met Serge Sargsyan on his
way to Chine, and the defense minister had to return from halfway
reaching half-way to the office of prime minister? If he had reached
China, he would have learned that fulfillment of wishes is not a
toast that anyone gets up and utters but a curse which catches the
one who gets up untimely.

Now Serge Sargsyan is trying to sit back on his chair, and return
the seats taken from their "owners" on May 12. This is already the
second mistake because the Chinese also say they do not step into
the same river twice. They mean that the water flows and the water
you have swum in has flown down the stream and if you return, you do
not step into the same water. When one takes someone else’s seat,
in case of returning one gives it to another person because the
person who has lost their seat is already different than they used
to be. The political forces with which Serge Sargsyan now wants to
share the absolute majority will thank him for his politeness only
but in reality they will always remember the morning of May 13 when
Serge Sargsyan treated them the way Robert Kocharyan had treated the
opposition and the people on protest in the morning of April 13.

In both cases the desire to become president is to blame. Robert
Kocharyan wanted to remain president, Serge Sargsyan wants to be
president. If there is opposition on one’s way, they beat the
opposition, if there is no opposition, they have to beat their
friends. But if one does not apologize to the opposition and the
society, one should not apologize to friends either. Meanwhile, this
is what Serge Sargsyan is doing now directly or indirectly. "Sorry,
guys, I don’t know what happened. Galust had put a spell on me. It’s
yours, I took it by mistake. It was dark in the night, anyone could be
mistaken. And you didn’t warn me. Take it, me dears. I don’t need this,
I need the post of president." These are the outlines of words that the
negotiations over the coalition emit into the atmosphere, which in fact
deprive Serge Sargsyan of not only public but also political support.

Meanwhile, Serge Sargsyan could have corrected his mistake of May
12 if he had gone all the way on the track of solitude. The prime
minister does not have another way. Any other step is a retreat. Serge
Sargsyan went ahead of the political sphere, cut off from this sphere
and now he has to go back to set up contact with it. Meanwhile, time
and space is not a game, they cannot go back and forth in time and
space. The human body is not ready for instant transformations. And
they do not get into the same body twice. This is not a Chinese saying,
it goes without saying.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
