BRUSSELS, JUNE 7, NOYAN TAPAN. Yves Letterman, member of Flemish
Christian-Democratic party of Belgium, who is the main contender for
prime minister, declared that nobody can force him to qualify the
1915 events as a genocide.

Letterman declared that he, as a politician, has nothing to do with
"genocide allegations" and added that the subject should be left
for international courts. He underlined that "as far as there is no
court decision on that issue," he as a politician "won’t consider it
his business."

The Flemish newspaper De Morgen, published in Belgium, touched upon
Letterman’s words, mentioning that the latter "will lose votes"
acting that way.

To recap, elections in Belgium will be held on June 10.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
