SERGE SARKISIAN APPOINTED ARMENIAN PRIME MINISTER

Armenian President Robert Kocharian issued an executive order
on appointing Serge Sarkisian Prime Minister, APA reports. Serge
Sarkisian has to present the new composition of the Cabinet.
New Prime Minister of Armenia Serge Sarkisian was born in 1954 in
Armenian-occupied Azerbaijani town Khankendi.
He graduated from the faculty of philology of Yerevan State University
in 1979 and was the secretary of Komsomol committee of Khankendi
till 1988.
The Prime Minister was directly involved in the occupation of
Azerbaijani lands and was the chief of the so-called Nagorno Karabakh
self-defense forces in 1989-1993.
Sarkisian was elected Member of Parliament in 1990 and was Defense
Minister, chief of State Security Department, National Security
Minister, Interior Minister, secretary of National Security Council.
He chairs Armenian Republic Party.
