Some 50 Pieces Of Russian Mil Equipment Leave Georgia

SOME 50 PIECES OF RUSSIAN MIL EQUIPMENT LEAVE GEORGIA

A train with equipment and property of 12th Russian Military Base
in Batumi has left for Russia on Thursday. It carries five tanks,
44 pieces of automobile equipment and part of its property, a
representative of the base command told ITAR-TASS. The train will
cross the Georgian-Azerbaijanian border on Thursday afternoon and
will follow to Russia via Azerbaijan.

This is the fourth train with equipment and property of the Batumi base
that left for Russia this year. Seven more trains will be dispatched to
Russia and four – – to the Russian military base Gyumri in Armenia in
the current year. In accordance with the Georgian-Russian agreements,
the base in Batumi will be closed before October 1, 2008.

As for 62nd Russian Military Base in Akhalkalaki in Georgia’ s south,
the main part of its equipment and armaments were taken away last
year. As is expected, this base will be closed before July 1, 2007.
