COMPETITION AT "ELITIST FACULTIES" WILL BE MUCH LESS THIS YEAR, RA
DEPUTY MINISTER OF EDUCATION BAGRAT YESAYAN ASSURES

YEREVAN, JUNE 11, NOYAN TAPAN. The main goal of holding exams by united
system is reduction of corruption risks and creation of equal
conditions for all entrants. RA Deputy Minister of Education and
Science Bagrat Yesayan reported at the June 7 press conference. "In the
previous years rumors went that "elitist faculties" are in advance
closed for ordinary entrants, which was done at the expense of getting
high marks in Armenian Language, while it will be excluded this year,"
the Deputy Minister of Education and Science said assuring that this
year competition will be much less at these faculties. "The leavers who
got even 15 in Armenian Language exam can apply to the very faculties,"
B. Yesayan said.

The Deputy Minister also reported that activities aimed at reduction of
corruption will be done inside universities, too. "The specialists, who
gain profits by taking bribes from students during current exams, will
feel in a short time that they are not wanted in that educational
system, too," B. Yesayan said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
