TRANSSEXUAL OYKU EVREN PUTS FORWARD HER CANDIDATURE IN PARLIAMENTARY

Turkish union of those having non-traditional sexual orientation will
take part in the parliamentary elections to be held in Turkey. This was
reported by Milliyet daily.
The head of the union, presenting the interests of transsexuals and
homosexuals, was nominated as an independent deputy from Bursa.
36-year-old Oyku Evren, made woman by an operation, declared that in
case she is elected, she will become the only parliamentarian defending
the rights of transsexuals and homosexuals in the Grand National
Assembly of Turkey. "I can become a better parliamentarian than a
number of people. With the assistance of the members of my union and
co-thinkers I will try to get into the Grand National Assembly,"
declared the transsexual candidate.
