YEREVAN, JUNE 12, NOYAN TAPAN. On June 21 on the initiative of the
French Embassy in Armenia live music will be played in the central
streets of Yerevan with the participation of professional and amateur
musicians, as well as bands. As Julie Soren, Cultural Attache of
the Embassy, declared at the June 12 press conference, the music
festivity with open-air concerts will start at 6 p.m. in Azatutiun
square (Liberty), where the band Serenad will present popular works
of Armenian and foreign composers.

J. Soren declared that on that day the citizens of Yerevan can listen
to music of different styles, i.e. classic, modern, pop, rock, etc.,
free of charge until midnight particularly in Abovian street, Charles
Aznavour square, Moscow park and in the park near the Yerevan Komitas
Conservatory.

"We aim at making this holiday annual and organizing it in all
the communities of the capital, as well as in other regions of the
republic," underlined J. Soren.

It was also mentioned that this festivity, that enjoys popularity
the whole world over, for the first time was organized in France in
1984. Then, such kind of festivities were held in a number of European
countries. Today this celebration that comes from France is annually
organized in about 340 cities of 100 countries across the world.
