ANNA MAYILIAN PRESENTS BEST PIECES OF ARMENIAN SACRED MUSIC IN MEXICO AND FRANCE

YEREVAN, JUNE 13, NOYAN TAPAN. From May 14 to June 1, singer Anna
Mayilian took part in the Ollin Kan annual festival in Mexico where
she performed Armenian sacred music. In her interview with a Noyan
Tapan correspondent the singer said that, for her, it is important
that Armenian sacred and folk music is performed in the pure form,
but with new interpretation on various stages of the world.

In early June A. Mayilian gave concerts in three French cities within
the framework of the Year of Armenia in France. Parallel with the
Ancient Armenia exhibition that opened at the National Gallery of
the city of Arles, A. Mayilian performed the best pieces of Armenian
sacred music. The renowned French Debussy quartet took part in the
singer’s concert in Perouge performing works by Komitas.

A. Mayilian is currently cooperating with the well-known Italian
quartet Prometeo. Within the framework of the National Gallery
international music festival held lately in Yerevan the singer and
the members of the quartet performed works by Komitas.
