LEVON ARONIAN TO PARTICIPATE IN FINALS FOR WORLD CHAMPION TITLE

ELISTA, JUNE 13, NOYAN TAPAN. The second round of the chess tournament
of challengers for the title of world champion ended in Elista on
June 12.

Levon Aronian drew with Alexey Shirov and gained an overall victory
with the score of 3.5:2.5. He received the right to participate in
the finals of the world chess championship in Mexico City to start
on September 11. He will compete with the current world champion
Vladimir Kramnik (Russia), Vishvanatan Anand (India), Alexander
Morozevich (Russia), Pyotr Svildler (Russia), Peter Leko (Hungary)
and Boris Gelfand (Israel).

The tournament’s extra game between Alexander Grishchuk and Sergei
Rublevski (both Russian chess palyers) on June 13 will determine the
8th participant of the championship.
