Train With 51 Military Hardware Leaves Georgia For RF

TRAIN WITH 51 MILITARY HARDWARE LEAVES GEORGIA FOR RF

ITAR-TASS, Russia
June 14 2007

MOSCOW, June 14 (Itar-Tass) – Another train carrying weapons and
military hardware of the 12th Russian military base in Batumi left
Georgia for Russia on Thursday, a representative of the command of
the Batumi base told Itar-Tass.

According to him, the train consisting of 35 cars will bring to
Russia 51 motor vehicles and armoured vehicles, weapons and reserves
of material and technical property of the Batumi military base. The
total weight of the cargo exceeds 900 tonnes. On Thursday afternoon,
the train will cross the Georgian-Azerbaijani border and through
Azerbaijan will go to Russia.

This is the fifth train with military equipment and property that left
the Batumi base this year. During 2007, six more trains with equipment
and property of the Batumi base will be dispatched to Russia. Four
trains will go to the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri in Armenia.

Under the Russian-Georgian agreement, the Russian military base in
Batumi should be closed before October 1, 2008, and the 62nd Russian
military base in Akhalkalaki – before July 1, 2008.
