POLICE DISPERSED JOURNALIST RALLY IN BAKU

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Baku police dispersed an unauthorized protest action
of journalists, who gathered to voice discontent with growing pressure
on mass media. The law enforcers made an attempt to push Yeni Musavat
newspaper’s assistant editor Azer Ayhan and reporter Zabil Mugabiloglu
into a police car, however, without success.

After a wrangle Yeni Musavat editor Rauf Arifoglu agreed to get into
the police car. Later he was released.

After that journalists repeated the attempt to gather in Sabir
park. However, policemen demanded to take away slogans and abandon
the site.

Gundelik Azerbaijan editor Shahveled Chobanoglu, Yeni Musavat editor
Rauf Airfoglu and Zabil Mugabirioglu were detained for disobedience
to the police.

The journalists were planning to picket the premises of BP-Azerbaijan
company, However, the measure was postponed over the arrest of the
editors, Day.az reports.
