ARF IS ALTERNATIVE WITH ITS PROGRAM AND WORK STYLE

YEREVAN (YERKIR) – ARF Bureau member and National Assembly deputy
speaker Vahan Hovhannisian said that the ARF is an alternative
political force which means that it is an alternative to the
authorities by its program and the platform presented during the
parliamentary election.
Speaking at a news conference today, Hovhannisian commented on ARF
Bureau representative Hrant Margarian’s statement in Tehran that
"the ARF is neither an opposition, nor authorities." Hovhannisian
said that Margarian did not say it in that way, he had said that the
ARF is an alternative, which is something different.
"We are an alternative with our cadres, our work style. As for being an
alternative to the opposition, here is what it means. The opposition’s
work style in the past four years resulted in the classic opposition’s
failure to be elected to parliament. Our way of criticism, our work
style is an alternative to that of the opposition," he said.
He also said that the ARF is supporting the candidate nominated by
the authorities in the Nagorno Karabakh presidential election.
If the authorities are trying to reproduce it is not bad "if the
people’s security is ensured," and everybody agrees that elections in
NKR are always more transparent and fairer than in all the neighboring
countries, he said.
