Armenian Defence Minister Meets With His Russian And Kazakh Counterp

ARMENIAN DEFENCE MINISTER MEETS WITH HIS RUSSIAN AND KAZAKH COUNTERPARTS IN MOSCOW

MOSCOW, JUNE 20, NOYAN TAPAN. A sitting of the council of defence
ministers of CIS member states was held in Moscow on June 20. The
Armenian defence minister Mikael Harutyunian also participated in
the sitting.

Among more than 20 agenda issues presented to the sitting participants
for discussion, the issue on implementation of the concept of military
cooperation of CIS countries and on taking measures on military
and technical military cooperation was given special attention. The
sitting participants also discussed the issue of further improvement
and development of the United Anti-Aircraft Defence System of CIS
countries, a number of issues related to flight safety and the
activities of the United (Collective) Forces for peace keeping in
the CIS, with the resepctive documents being signed.

According to a press release submitted to NT from the RA defence
ministry, during the visit, M. Harutyunian met with the defence
ministers of Russia and Kazakhstan. At the meeting with the Russian
defence minister A.

Serdyukov, the sides addressed problems of military and technical
military cooperation, in particular some social problems of the
Russian military base No 102. At the meeting with the defence
minister of Kazakhstan, issues related to the creation of the legal
and contractual basis for starting the military cooperation between
the two countries were discussed.
