The president of the world Yezids Aziz Tamoyan has urged US
President George Bush once again to consider the interests of Iraqi
Yezids. During a press-conference today Tamoyan proposed forming a
Yezid state in Northern Iraq under the US protectorate.
"Recently some sources have reported that Iraq may be divided into
states of Kurdsm, Shias and Sunnis, while the interests of Yezids
are being ignored.
There is a big threat that the Yezids living in Northern Iraq may
suffer from persecution by Muslims. Turkish troops are gradually
moving inside Iraq in order to prevent the possible independence of
the Kurds. But they are also pressuring the Yezids. Hence, we urge Mr.
Bush to save them, to give them a chance for free and independent
life," Tamoyan said. "They in the US Embassy have told me that they
have conveyed my letter to President Bush and he will answer me
without fail. 2 months have passed but I have received no response
yet," Tamoyan said. He noted that Northern Iraq belongs to Yezids as
they have lived their for 5,000 years already. "There are 2mln Yezids
worldwide, of them 1.200mln live in Iraq. Their life is in danger and
we will not be silent until our demands are satisfied," Tamoyan said.
