The Foreign Ministries of four unrecognized states Transdniester,
Nagorno Karabakh, South Ossetia and Abkhazia signed a joint declaration
on principles for peaceful and just settlement of their territorial
conflicts with Moldova, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The key to the document is the appeal that conflicts should be settled
only by peaceful political means, on the bases of respect for the
views of all the sides of a conflict and taking into account the
right of peoples’ self-determination, informed the Foreign Ministry
of Transdniester, according to ITAR-TASS.
It condemns military, economic, informational, diplomatic and other
forms of pressure at the negotiations.
The four foreign ministers agreed to set up guarantee systems of
a post-conflict settlement. It would include guarantees of their
peoples’ security and protection of human rights and provide clear
and compulsory fulfillment of the obligations of all sides of the
conflicts.
The four unrecognized states regard Kosovo’s independence as
a precedent and consider that they have more mature government
institutions than Kosovo.
