M. SAAKASHVILI’S VISIT TO JAVAKHK REMAINS UNNOTICED FOR POPULATION

AKHALKALAK, JUNE 22, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. On June 21,
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili visited Javakhk to attend the
opening ceremony of the newly built sports complexes of the Akhalkalak
and Ninotsminda regions.

As Noyan Tapan was informed by Javakhk-Info, the President’s visit,
with the exception of the representatives of the regions’ leadership,
who received the right to enter the sports complex only after being
registered, remained unnoticed by the Javakhk population.

The opening ceremony of the sports complexes lasted only 20 minutes
both in the Akhalkalak and Ninotsminda regions, and before the
President’s arrival all main roads were blocked and all telephone
communications were cut off.

Pupils of Ninotsminda’s music school celebrated the President’s
entrance to the sports complex of Ninotsminda, at which representatives
of Ninotsminda leadership, Samtskhe-Javakhk Governor G. Khachidze, and
Georgian MP Henzel Mkoyan were present.

The opening ceremony of Akhalkalak region’s sports complex was
conducted with the President’s celebratory speech, after which
Saakashvili promised the residents of Javakakh allocation of places for
them at Georgian state universities with state assistance, as well as
promised that he will sponsor Akhalkalak’s former Abul football team.

It should be mentioned that the sports complexes built in Javakhk with
the sponsorship of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili were ready
for use as early as in May.
