RAFFI HOVHANNISIAN: "PROJECT OF GOVERNMENT IS VERY RICH IN FLIGHTS OF THOUGHT AND STRESSES DECLARATION HERE AND THERE"

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, NOYAN TAPAN. Only the Zharangutiun (Heritage)
faction voted "against" the project of the government, which was
approved by a majority of votes in the June 26 sitting in the
National Assembly. Before the ballot Raffi Hovhannisian, the head
of the faction, declared that "the project is rich in flights of
flashings of thought and stresses the declaration here and there."
He also mentioned that the Zharangutiun (Heritage) party would adopt it
if it were "a series of wishes", but not a five-year activity project.
According to Raffi Hovhannisian, the project of the government should
follow reality: for example, when the issue concerns a considerable
reduction in poverty, it should also be taken into consideration that
despite the fact that benefits increase in foreign currency, prices
are rising and purchasing capacity is decreasing at the same time. In
his conviction, the steps and mechanisims in the struggle against
corruption are not clarified in the project, there is a considerable
gap in the part of the project concerning foreign policy, the Artsakh
problem, Armenian-Turkish relations, and steps taken in the direction
of Armenian sovereignty, in particular.
According to the head of the Zharangutiun (Heritage) faction, the
main outcomes expected from the activities of the government in
the spheres of science, economy, small and large scale business, as
well as in many others, and "the relation of the macro-economic and
financial-credit policy with the terrible balance of foreign trade"
is not included in the project either.
It should also be mentioned that at the same time Raffi Hovhannisian
expressed willingness to cooperate with the Prime Minister and
the government in order to "bring those fine words and definitions
to life."
