MEMORANDUM OF MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING SIGNED BETWEEN RA MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE AND "ANUSHAVAN ABRAHAMIAN" FUND

YEREVAN, JULY 10, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. A memorandum of
mutual understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education
and Science of the Republic of Armenia and the "Anushavan Abrahamian"
Fund on July 9.
According to this memorandum, the fund will continue to implement the
programs of restoration and long-lasting development of preliminary
and vocational educational institutions in Armenia. This memorandum of
mutual understanding was ratified by Levon Mkrtchian, the RA Minister
of Education and Science, and Anushavan Abrahamian, the the founder
and president of the "Anushavan Abrahamian" Fund.
Levon Mkrtchian, the RA Minister of Education and Science, attached
importance to the implementation of the reforms in the sphere of
vocational education in Armenia and mentioned that the programs of
the "Anushavan Abrahamian" Fund are of prolonged character and that
positive indices are recorded as a result of this fact. "I hope that
our Diasporan friends will follow the example of this initiative,"
the Minister mentioned.
Anushavan Abrahamian, the founder and president of the "Anushavan
Abrahamian" Fund, was proud to mention that he is able to support
the strengthening of the vocational educational institutions of the
Armenian educational system to a certain extent. "I am not a very rich
man, however, I want to use the means of my family fund in favour
of the Armenian educational system. I want our cooperation to last
a long time and, why not, be permanent," Anushavan Abrahamian said.
Levon Mkrtchian, the RA Minister of Education and Science, awarded
Anushavan Abrahamian a golden memorial medal of the Ministry.
It should be mentioned that the "Anushavan Abrahamian" Fund was founded
in the United States in October 2004. It is a charitable fund, which
pursues no profit and implements programs of universal and long-lasting
development of vocational and preliminary educational institutions
in the Republic of Armenia. Within the framework of its activities,
the fund has implemented programs of development and restoration of
industrial and vocational educational institutions in 10 regions
of the Republic of Armenia, except Yerevan. The activities of the
fund include repair of educational institutions, improvement and
replanishment of belongings, investment of new professions, as well as
the implementation of specialistic and out-of-school hours activities.
It should also be mentioned that the fund started its activities in
Armenia in 2005 and it has provided over 200 thousand U.S. dollars
to the vocational educational system of Armenia up to now. This year
the fund will allocate another 400-500 U.S. dollars to Armenia.
