ARMENIA-NATO COOPERATION TO COMBAT TERRORISM TO STRENGTHEN REGIONAL SECURITY, ARMENIAN DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER SAYS

Armenia’s cooperation with NATO in the fight against terrorism helps
strengthening the regional security and boosts regional cooperation,
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Kirakosyan said at the
international forum "Preparedness for Combating Terrorism."
He said the latest methods of effective counteraction to global
terrorism were nonfunctional without the scientific potential of the
international community. That is why the cooperation of the states
should be considered from the scientific point of view as a method for
development of scientific thought. He also added that in foreign policy
Armenia is guided with the principle of interchange and forms a complex
security system in accordance with the urgent challenges. Cooperation
with NATO under PfP programme, including for combating terrorism,
is one of the elements of the system, A. Kirakosyan said.
Moreover, he noted that Armenia implements Partnership Action Plan
with NATO aiming cooperation between the partner-states in the fight
against terrorism given their geographical location. A. irakosyan
said Armenia cooperates also with the CSTO and CIS member-states
under the programme of combating terrorism.
