KARABAKH LIBERATION ORGANIZATION DEMANDS REMOVAL OF INTERNATIONAL MEDIATORS FROM PEACE NEGOTIATION

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The Karabakh Liberation
Organization (KLO) reported on 13 July that international organizations
should pay attention to the Armenian position and should apply concrete
sanctions against the aggressive regime.

In his statement, Armenian President Robert Kocharian once more
approved that Armenia will never join Armenia with Nagorno-Karabakh
in a ‘non-central confederation’.

Fruitless attempts by mediators of international organizations will not
produce any positive results, and therefore international organizations
should accept their helplessness, according to the KLO.

The KLO believes that Azerbaijan should correctly appreciate the
situation and stop its fruitless negotiations.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries broke out in
1988 in view of Armenia’s territorial claims to Azerbaijan. Since 1992,
Armenian Armed Forces have been occupying 20% of Azerbaijani territory
(Nagorno-Karabakh and seven nearby regions). In May, 1994 a ceasefire
agreement was signed between both sides. The peaceful negotiations
under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chaired by Russia,
France, and the United States are still underway.

The KLO was founded in Baku in 2000. The main purpose of the
organization is to fight for the liberation of Karabakh. Members of
the organization are refugees, displaced persons, and representatives
of the intelligentsia.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
