REPUBLICANS SPEAK TO PARTNERS WITH CHINESE WORDS OF WISDOM

The speaker of the National Assembly Tigran Torosyan stated during
the news conference at the Regnum Agency on July 13 the delay of the
Republican Party’s conference has no extraordinary reason. Tigran
Torosyan said the party was going to name president in the conference
in fall, besides the time of the extraordinary conference was drawing
nearer, plus the extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly that
lasted for over a week, besides, there were issues that need more
reflection, and it was technically impossible to hold a conference
in summer. Therefore, according to Tigran Torosyan, the conference
was delayed till fall.

For those who think the conference of the Republican Party was delayed
for some extraordinary reason, Tigran Torosyan recalled the Chinese
saying about looking for a black cat in the dark room, especially when
the cat is not in the room. Tigran Torosyan seems to have studied a
manual of Chinese sayings.

At least he told another Chinese tale during the news conference,
this time in connection with the bills related to Radio Liberty. The
reporters asked the speaker of the National Assembly for his opinion on
the fact that the Republican Party’s coalition partner and collaborator
factions of the Bargavach Hayastan Party and the ARF Dashnaktsutyun
did not vote to the bills on television and radio and state levy,
and the bills were not adopted, meanwhile the government considered
them so important that held an extraordinary meeting of parliament.

Tigran Torosyan told the story of twelve friends who are very close but

should not rely on others, and if the memoranda on coalition and
collaboration were signed, they must honor the memoranda. For the
news reporters, the speaker says it does not mean that the members of
parliament who were present were for the closure of Radio Liberty, and
the others who were absent were against. The speaker of the National
Assembly also stated that the government will not present the bills
on television and radio and state levy twice. It is not clear why he
is so convinced. As to the question, Tigran Torosyan advises to ask
the government not him. Generally, he says the National Assembly has
nothing to do with Radio Liberty. It means someone nevertheless has.
