YEREVAN, JULY 17, NOYAN TAPAN. Vladimir Karapetian, the acting Head of
the Information and Public Relations’ Department of the RA Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, commented on the decision of Russia concerning
the cessation of its participation in the Conventional Armed Forces
of Europe by the request of the "ITAR-TASS" agency and made the
following statement: "The treaty of Conventional Armed Forces in
Europe (CFE Treaty) will be in force at least for another 150 days,
and we hope that the disagreements existing between the CFE member
countries will be smoothed out through further dialogue.

According to him, Armenia is ready to conduct joint consultations
with all the member countries of the Conventional Armed Forces of
Europe concerning the above-mentioned problem.

"Armenia considers the Treaty of the Conventional Armed Forces of
Europe as a mechanism of balance and the transparency of security
on the territory of Europe, which has proved its capability to
function during the past fifteen years. The treaty has had success in
implementing a role of a factor, which restrains armament proliferation
on OSCE territory since the day of its creation," the official of
the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
