/PanARMENIAN.Net/ A memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide
will be placed in Boston. Tom Menino, Mayor of Boston has agreed
on the idea to place a memorial, but not on Greenway square near
Christopher Columbus Park. He said he doesn’t want the Greenway to
become home to a number of memorial sites.

Today the Globe reports that the BRA (Boston Redevelopment Authority)
has proposed some alternative sites for the memorial: Charles River
parkland on both sides of the river created by the Big Dig, a location
in the South Boston waterfront near the Convention Center & Exhibition
Center, a spot on a Charlestown pier, a current parking lot on Merrimac
and Staniford Streets, and that a spot between Filene’s and TJ Maxx
in Downtown Crossing called "shoppers park".

Earlier the Boston Town Council opposed the idea to place a memorial
to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
