July 20 the 7th sitting of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental
Commission will take place in Yerevan. On this occasion the Minister
of Foreign Affairs of Iran Manouchehr Mottaki, who is the co-chair of
the Iranian side, will arrive in Armenia. A memorandum of understanding
will be signed at the end of the sitting.

"The Iranian side assumed the co-chairmanship of the commission
on the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since we are not
satisfied with the current volume of economic relations," Head of
the General Board of Economic Cooperation of the Iranian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs Seyid Mahdi Mirabutalibi said during the sitting of
the expert group of the intergovernmental commission. He expressed
hope that positive results will be registered at the 7th sitting of
the Intergovernmental Commission. In his words, the political dialogue
between the two countries is on a high level, and serious steps need
to be taken to raise the economic cooperation to the same level.

"The authorities of the two countries are constantly speaking about the
volume of trade, but we do not manage to achieve tangible results. We
can reach results only in case of free trade. I think we must address
the issue right now," he noted.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
