"The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is an independent country. The European
Union and the USA must endorse this fact," Miroslav Ivanovich,
the Director of the "Belgrade Criminology and Sociological Studies
Institute" told A1+ after the NKR elections.

He is convinced that Europe and the USA don’t recognise the NKR
independence out of economic goals.

They rely on Azerbaijan’s support.

According to Ivanovich, European and US stance towards the NKR
is rather rough. And yet it mustn’t affect the NKR people. "NKR
residents must lead a quite life. No matter how long the USA and
international structures will stick to their principles, one day they
will recognize the NKR independence. The earlier Azerbaijan recognizes
the NKR independence, the more it will benefit."

Ivanovich observed the NKR elections and found no irregularities. "The
international community should endorse the election outcome otherwise
it proves its unbiased approach to the country. " p> As for PACE
Secretary Terry Devis’ statement on the territories adjacent to
Nagorno-Karabakh, Ivanovich said, "Terry Devis must be invited to the
NKR to get acquainted with the local residents and their conditions. He
simply ignores the reality."

According to the French expert Iv Batay the NKR elections were
compliant with democratic standards.

The fact that the international community doesn’t recognize the NKR
elections is not that important.

"The EU is only an economic union. EU representatives Joze-Manuel
Barozo and Javier Solana are merely a US spy. They don’t represent
European interests."

According to Bayat Azerbaijan is well aware that NKR is an Armenian
territory and it’s useless to consider the matter. The country only
lacks courage to accept the truth.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
