IRAN SUPPORTS DISCUSSIONS BETWEEN ARMENIA-AZERBAIJAN ON KARABAKH

Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on 23 July that Iran supports discussions
between Azerbaijan and Armenia to solve their dispute over Karabakh.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported communication as
a way of understanding between the parties involved in the Karabakh
dispute," Hosseini told reporters. "We believe that settlement of the
dispute will play a key role in the process of guaranteeing stability
and sustainable development in the region," he said.
He went on to say that whilst officially recognizing the sovereignty
right of countries, including Azerbaijan, Iran welcomes the recent
constructive discussions, especially between the presidents of the
two countries.
He announced Iran’s readiness to provide every assistance to facilitate
the eventual settlement of the problem.
