EUR 92 MILLION TO AZERBAIJAN FROM THE EU

The Azerbaijani government says it’s getting EUR 92 million from the
EU as part of its neighborhood policy, reports the news agency Regnum,
to fund a national action plan for 2007-2010.
EU representative in Azerbaijan Alan Waddams says the money will be
divvied up between reforms in energy, transportation, democracy and
human rights areas.
Azerbaijan received the national action plan in November of 2006,
as part of the EU neighborhood policy. The plan consists of ten
principles, and includes issues of democracy, human rights, and
peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Azerbaijan government has also talked of simplifying its visa
regime; the EU Commission, Alan Waddams says, will help
