Coordination Office Within ArmTech Congress To Be Created In Armenia

COORDINATION OFFICE WITHIN ARMTECH CONGRESS TO BE CREATED IN ARMENIA IN 2007

YEREVAN, August 7. /ARKA/. Coordination office within the Global
Armenian Technology Congress (ArmTech) will be created in Armenia
in 2007.

ArmTech-2007 Co-Chair, Director of the Company Viasphere Technopark
Aram Vardanyan told reporters that the office will coordinate
work on implementation of provisions and agreements achieved during
ArmTech-2007 in San Francisco, as well as make preparations to conduct
the next similar congress.

"Our objective for a medium-term period is to create 20ths vacancies
in the IT-sphere in Armenia, and this is rather realistic," he said.

According to Vardanyan, the initiative group of the congress
had prepared a package of proposals to be introduced to the RA
Government. "Rather prospective directions of the IT-development in
Armenia are mentioned in the document, besides, there are those events,
which should be implemented for the further effective development of
this sphere," he said.

The Co-Chair of the Congress said that among the vital issues is the
creation of the ArmTech website, which should be constantly developed
and updated. "Besides, the initiators of the event discussed the
necessity of conducting regional congresses within the coming two
years, in particular, a proposal was made to conduct similar event
in Venice," he said.

Vardanyan also said that under the auspices of ArmTech-2007,
a seminar on microelectronics will be held in the Armenian resort
city of Aghveran in September. The organizer of the program is the
Armenian Association of Microelectronics.

Over 350 representatives from many countries of the world participated
in the congress Armtech-2007 held in San Francisco on July 4-7,
2007. Armenia was represented by 60 businessmen and 11 business
and educational organizations that make part of the cluster of IT
Armenia. The Armenian delegation was headed by the President’s Advisor
on economic issues Vigen Nersisyants. Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan
Oskanian, Californian Senator Joe Simitian, President of Synopsys
Inc. Dr.Chi-Foon Chan made reports during the event.

The objective of the congress is to improve Armenia’s image on
the IT-market of the world, contribute to the revelation of new
possibilities of business cooperation and creation of new goods and
services in Armenia, to the rise of business contacts with businessmen
and organizations of the U.S. and other counties, as well as to arise
foreign companies’ interests in having joint business with Armenian
organizations and enterprises.

Armenia treats the IT-sphere as stimulus doe the development of other
spheres of the economy. 200 enterprises with 5ths staff actively
function in this sphere. The volume of production in 2006 is estimated
at $100mln, about 20% growth as compared to 2005.
