Residents of Northern Avenues, Yeznik Koghbatsi Street and owners
of Dalma Gardens gathered in front of Yerevan municipality today
demanding from Mayor Yervand Zakharyan to accept them and give an
answer on the progression of their problem. Ownership Rights Protection
NGO Chairman Vachagan Hakobyan told Panorama.am they have met Prime
Minister Serzh Sargsyan several times. The prime has promised that
the size of the monetary compensation made to the residents striped
of their houses will be "reconsidered according to the real market
price." The displaced residents made a promise themselves not to
rally in streets. "We kept to our word but the government and the
municipality did not keep to their own," resented Hakobyan also saying
"this is the fourth year now that people are illegally thrown out
from their houses having paid pence without being redeemed for their
ownership rights."

In Hakobyan’s words, the prime minister was asked to set up a
government committee in order to discuss and find a solution to the
problem, however, Sargsyan "has signed the paper to the assignment
of the mayor and he has not done anything, again."

Asked what their next step will be in case Yerevan mayor does not
accept them, Hakobyan answered they are going to bring all the people,
whose rights have been violated in the course of the recent few years,
out to streets and demand resignation of the government. "We are full
of determination and we will go until the end," Hakobyan finished off.
