EU TO GIVE 15 MILLION EUROS TO HELP REFORM VOCATIONAL AND PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION

YEREVAN, AUGUST 13, ARMENPRESS: A senior official of the Armenian
education and science ministry said today the European Union will
give Armenia 15 million euros to help it reform its vocational and
pre-school education establishments.
Samvel Pipoyan, head of the ministry’s vocational and pre-school
education department, said the money will be spent in three stages
in 2008-2010.
The first stage will be to improve housing conditions and upgrade their
material and technical basis, the second will be to train about 3.500
teachers and the last one will be to develop a new tuition methodology.
Samvel Pipoyan also said the salaries of teachers in vocational schools
will increase next year by 5,000 Drams to 30,000 and to 90,000 Drams
in 2009.
