"Today’s economic growth is more restructuring than development and, in
case of the present pace, it would be impossible to report progress,"
Tatul Manaseyan, economist by profession and ex-deputy of the Armenian
parliament, told a press conference today.

In his words, today they talk about the economic development but it
is not clear what is developing and for what purpose. "To report
development in the field of economy one should clearly know the
determinants and predict the consequences of the development, which
are absent today," he said.

Tatul Manaseyan assures that Armenia imports two to four times more
that it exports.

"Armenia is a great field for the importers since they raise their
production, create job opportunities as well as earn money here"
the speaker explained.

Manaseryan believes Armenia’s economy develops in a chaotic move under
the conditions of monopolies and closed markets the consequences and
the pace of which, according to him, are unforeseen.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
