RBC, 21.08.2007, Moscow 12:45:15.According to recent media reports,
Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) is nearing a deal on the purchase of Armenia’s
largest mobile operator K-Telecom.
Mobile penetration in Armenia is currently 50 percent, and K-Telecom’s
accounts for a 70-percent share of the market.
Analysts believe that this deal may have a positive effect for MTS’s
shares. Furthermore, this deal will allow MTS to compete with VimpelCom
in terms of operations in the CIS. Experts also say that MTS stocks
are likely to cost $70 by the year-end.
