"Hayastan" All-Armenian Fund (HHH) broadens its "Rural development
program" including other regions of Armenia besides Tavush. HHH
press services told Panorama.am that the Executive Director of the
foundation Vahe Aghabekyants has recently visited the region of Lory
together with several experts of the organization.
The deputy governor of Vanadzor has introduced the situation in the
rural communities. The working group of the foundation also visited
Tashir where it met with the local entrepreneur, the owner of cheese
and meat production in the village, Khachik Dumikyan.
Dumikyan said the village has "a strong potential for both productions"
and that people "just need to be economically motivated."
The representatives of "Hayastan" fund have found out in village
"Norashen" that the chief challenge here, among others, is the low
quality of telecommunication.
"Why should we make monthly payments if we cannot make and receive
calls," the village dwellers complained.
"The rural development program" has taken up the responsibility to
revive the villages of Armenia and integrate them into the national
economy. We can prevent hopelessness and emigration only in this way,"
the executive director of the fund said during the meetings.
